Tynan works for WPVI-TV since joining the station in 1995. She is currently a weathercaster for 5, 6, and 11 pm and also the WPVI chief meteorologist. Tynan previously hosted the Saturday evening public affairs program Primetime Weekend show which was hosted by Gary Papa until his death on June 19, 2009.
After graduation from Washington and Lee University, the American Meteorological society employed her as a weather forecaster. After a while working there, she moved to Las Vegas where she worked as a weather and a news anchor for Good Morning Las Vegas station.
