Dan Spilo 2020 Updates & Now
Dan was removed from the CBS competition show following misconduct allegations, a first for the reality series in its 19-year and 39-season run. Following the elimination of fellow contestant Elaine Stott, executive producer, and host Jeff Probst told remaining players, “Alright, so, need to share some news. So I just spoke privately with Dan and I want to update you guys.
A decision has been made and Dan will not be returning to the game. He will not be coming back to camp. He won’t be on the jury. He’s gone.” Wednesday’s episode ended with a title card that read, “Dan was removed from the game after a report of another incident, which happened off-camera and did not involve a player.” CBS declined further comment beyond the title card at the end of the episode.
Spilo was accused by a fellow contestant of inappropriate touching, with allegations including making physical contact after being asked to stop, and later apologized to his fellow competitors if his behavior was inappropriate. “In the episode broadcast last night, several female castaways discussed the behavior of a male castaway that made them uncomfortable,” CBS and producers MGM TV said last month following Spilo’s initial warning.
“During the filming of this episode, producers spoke off-camera to all the contestants still in the game, both as a group and individually, to hear any concerns and advise about appropriate boundaries. A formal warning was also given to the male castaway in question.
On Survivor, producers provide the castaways a wide berth to play the game. At the same time, all castaways are monitored and supervised at all times. They have full access to producers and doctors, and the production will intervene in situations where warranted.”
Dan Spilo Survivor
Dan is one of the cast members on “Survivor: Island of the Idols,” which premieres Wednesday, Sept. 25, on CBS. He believes he will “survive” Survivor because he thinks he has the basic, if not superior, physicality to be useful to the Tribe. More importantly, he has an incredible ability to know what people need and to make them feel good, and to make myself critical in their success.
When he joined the show, he revealed that his biggest fear going into Survivor was that he would have to go home early. Spilo said he wanted to make it to the jury, which he now has done on the show.
He said, “Post-merge jury vote-out is perfectly fine for me, as it is probably for most people, though I anticipate and expect final three and family visits.”
Dan Spilo Removed From Survivor
In Dec. 11, 2019 episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols, Dan was removed from the game which is the first time in the show’s history that a player has been removed.
At the very end of the episode, right after tribal council, Jeff Probst approached the camp and announced to the remaining players Lauren Beck, Janet Carbin, Dean Kowalski, Noura Salman, and Tommy Sheehan that Dan Spilo had been removed from the game.
“I just spoke privately with Dan, and I want to update you guys. A decision has been made, and Dan will not be returning to the game. He won’t be coming back to camp, he won’t be on the jury, he’s gone,” he said.
A message on the screen then read: “Dan was removed from the game after a report of another incident, which happened off-camera and did not involve a player.”
Survivor 39 Winner
On December 18, 2019, Tommy was named the winner of season 39, Island of the Idols over Dean Kowalski and Noura Salman in an 8-2-0 jury vote. He received two votes to win, from Aaron and Elizabeth. Lauren Beck and Janet Carbin, meanwhile, were eliminated during the finale in 4th and 5th place, respectively.
By being crowned the winner of Survivor: Island of the Idols, he won $1 million prizes. Sheehan credits his win with being so social that everybody told him things all game.
He said, “I was very open and real with people and when you’re real with people, they’re real with you too. So people were telling me they found an idol, they were telling me they had an advantage, people told me everything and then it was me saying, ‘Let’s mix this up’ and doing what I wanted with it.”
The finale kicked off right where last week’s episode left off, which saw contestant Dan Spilo removed from the game after allegations of improperly touching a producer.
