, WGN Evening News, and WGN News at Nine. She joined WGN-TV as a full-time general assignment reporter in September 1994. Dina anchored the WGN Weekend Morning News from December 1994 to December 1999. In the year 2013, Dina traveled to Italy to cover the election of the new Pope. Dina reported living in Vatican City. Dina came to WGN-TV from CLTV in Oak Brook where she was an anchor as well as a reporter. Prior to CLTV, Dina worked at WHOI-TV in Peoria as an anchor, reporter, and producer.
She also worked at WMAQ-TV in Chicago as a field producer. Bair is the recipient of numerous awards including nine Emmy awards, a Peter Lisagor Award from the Society of Professional Journalists, as well as multiple Associated Press awards for both anchoring and reporting.
She was named a Fellow by the National Press Foundation for the “Cancer Issues” seminar in Washington D.C.In perhaps the most rewarding story of her career, Bair spent a month reporting inside the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Memorial Hospital. Dina’s news series and documentary, “Intensive Caring,” detailed the cutting edge medical treatments and life, as well as death decisions, and won awards for its news and documentary coverage.
Bair is originally from the East Coast and received her B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from Northwestern University in Evanston. Bair has survived cancer two times. In the first instance, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer when she was only 21 years of age. Luckily, the cancer was still in the early stages and was treated and cured. Then, when she was aged 39 years, she suffered another horrifying experience when she discovered a lump of melanoma in her breast. The diagnosis was breast cancer and surgery was needed. The huge melanoma which was the size of a golf ball was removed surgically and again she was declared cancer-free.
