Mitchell’s career as a producer started in the mid-1980s as an individual from the Kennedy Miller generation house situated in Sydney, Australia. In the late 1980s, he was named with George Miller and Terry Hayes on three separate events in the AACTA Award for Best Film class at the Australian Film Institute Awards. In 1987 they won the best film for The Year My Voice Broke, were selected in 1989 for Dead Calm and won a second honor for Flirting in 1990.
