Eric Omondi Comedian
It’s in Kisumu Boys where his comedy skills thanks to his naturally talkative and never missed in the ‘noisemakers’ list. Whether he was absent or present, he would be on the list that got him into a sort of big trouble since anything he said came out as a joke.
It was while in form three that he narrated some Indian movie he had watched to some classmates and it seemed enticing and more and more students converged around him as he narrated and imitated Indian accents and all the weird stuff.
Unfortunately, the principal sneaked in and disguised himself among the students at the back but no one noticed. What followed was his parents were called to the school and he was caned in turns:- by his parents, the principal, and some teachers all got a piece of him. His career in comedy began when he joined Churchill’s show.
He later left Churchill to do his own show dubbed Hawayuni that aired on KTN but it was short-lived. He also did ‘Somewhere in Africa and ‘Untamed’. He currently does parodies that he uploads on Youtube. He was voted as amongst the top 10 African funniest Men, he is largely popular from his appearance on Churchill’s show.
Eric Omondi and Jacque Maribe
The drama between one-time TV journalist Jacque Maribe and comedian Eric Omondi appeared far from over following new allegations made by the latter. Maribe blamed Omondi for ignoring his fatherly duties for 7 years, the self-proclaimed President of Comedy in Africa has presently come out guns blazing intimating that he is not even sure he is the baby’s actual father.
He told the two of them had close relations on only one night after having too many drinks at an office soiree, during a time when Maribe was in a relationship with another journalist. Omondi nevertheless claimed that the two of them used protection that night, only for Maribe to tell him after two months that she was pregnant.
“So we met at Radio Africa in 2012. I was working at Radio Jambo and Jacque was working at Kiss TV. So one random night after a Radio Africa Staff Party and after a few bottles of whiskey and wine glasses Jacque and I happened,” he wrote on Instagram on Tuesday evening.
“It was really a one-night thing because she was dating KTN’s Sam Ogina at the time. We used protection!!! After two Months Jacque tells me she’s Pregnant!!! I immediately ask her how since we used Protection. She then tells me “It doesn’t matter the mother always knows who the Father is and that I am the Father!!! During the entire Pregnancy, nothing happened and we barely saw each other.”
He added that four months after the baby was born, Maribe asked if he was going to step up to the responsibility but he asked for a DNA test first. The comedian said his request rubbed Maribe the wrong way, and that she has turned down the request for a DNA test for the 7 years since then.
He said that he is ready to take responsibility and be a present figure in the child’s life, but only if a DNA test is conducted and it proves him to be the actual father.
“I asked her for a DNA test so that I could comfortably be part of the baby’s life and support fully. She got very offended and refused my request. For 7 seven years I have begged Jacque to allow us to have a DNA Test and she has continually refused,” he said.
“I don’t mind supporting the child but if you want me to be fully present and supportive if you want me to be a father. Then we have to do the right thing!!!!”
The back and forth was created when Omondi took to Instagram on Monday to announce that he is soon going to be a father – a responsible one – to a child, he was allegedly expecting with an upcoming musician. The tickler argued that he met the musician, Miss P, during an event that he was hosting in the country and that things went down from there.
“I met this Beautiful Woman 5 months ago in an event I was hosting,” Omondi captioned on Instagram photo in which he was cradling a pregnant-looking Miss P.
Maribe was however not amused by the post and expressed her displeasure on the comments section, claiming that the comedian is an absent dad to their supposed child.
“Responsibility? @catewamaribe come I can’t speak 😂😂😂 7 years of responsibility,” Maribe wrote, apparently questioning the comedian’s promise to his unborn child.
