During his time in Charlotte, he covered many hurricanes and even hurricane Irma as it hit the Carolina in 2017. Before Charlotte, John was in Springfield, Missouri, where he did the morning news at KOLR 10 for three years. At KOLR 10 his dog Griffey was named the “weather dog” and he was live on their show once a week.

Griffey also appeared on the green screen where he helped him do the forecast! Needless to say, his dog was more famous than him! In Springfield Zeigler also found himself in the heart of tornado country and covered countless tornado outbreaks. His career started back in Duluth, Minnesota, where he was again a morning meteorologist.
