NJPW

While AEW is Moxley’s “home base” promotion, he has been a key figure in New Japan since he made his company debut in June. Moxley beat Juice Robinson for the U.S. IWGP championship in his first match and later entered the G1 Climax tournament.

Following weeks of New Japan’s Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) airing mystery man videos threatening IWGP United States Champion Juice Robinson, Moxley was found guilty in May 2019, challenging Robinson for a title match on the final night of the Best of the Super Juniors 26 show on June 5.

In the event, he defeated Robinson in his NJPW in-ring debut to win the IWGP United States Championship. Despite Moxley’s original challenge, AEW CEO Tony Khan announced that Moxley will be able to make independent and international bookings during the summer before AEW’s TV deal begins in the fall.
