Taryn attended Pender High School located in Burgaw, NC between 1985 and 1989. Vanderford was an enthusiast member of the musical group while in high school. Furthermore, she received several awards while in high school.

Immediately after completing high school, Taryn joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where she studied and graduated with the highest honors in Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, English, History, Music, and political science in 1993.

She served as the producer for HGTV, DIY, A&E, Food Network between Sep 1996 and 2008.

Furthermore, she received an award for County style on HGTV. Additionally, Taryn worked as an adjunct professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln between Aug 2005 and May 2009.
