Julian Lennon Career
Julian Lennon was born in Liverpool on April 8, 1963. He was named after Julia Lennon, his paternal grandmother. Brian Epstein, the manager of the Beatles, was his godfather. Lennon inspired one of the most famous songs of his father, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,” whose lyrics describe a picture drawn by the boy, an aquarel painting of his friend, Lucy O’Donnell, from nursery school, surrounded by stars. Another composition inspired by him by his father was the lullaby “Good Night,” The Beatles ‘ closing song. He attended the set of the movie Magical Mystery Tour by the Beatles in 1967.
When Julian was five years old in 1968, his parents divorced from the Japanese multimedia artist Yoko Ono following his father’s infidelity. On March 20, 1969, John Lennon married Ono, and Julian had Sean Lennon, a younger half-brother, and Kyoko Chan Cox, a stepsister. Paul McCartney wrote “Hey Jude” to console him about the divorce; originally called “Hey Jules,” McCartney changed his name because he thought “Jude” was a name that was easier to sing. After the divorce of his parents, Julian had almost no contact with his father until the early 1970s, when he began to visit his father regularly at the request of his father’s then short-term girlfriend, May Pang.
What Happened To Julian Lennon
Lennon chafed at hearing the perpetual celebration of the peace-loving attitude of his father. He told the Daily Telegraph, “I have to say that from my point of view I felt he was a hypocrite,” he said, “Dad could talk to the world about peace and love loudly, but he could never show it to the people who supposedly meant him the most: his wife and son. How can you talk about peace and love and have a family in bits and pieces — no communication, adultery, divorce?
Lennon has been excluded from the will of his father. But his father created a £ 100,000 trust to be shared among all his kids (both Julian and Sean). Julian sued his father’s estate and reportedly reached a £ 20 million settlement agreement in 1996. The feelings of Lennon towards his father had mellowed by 2009.
