Justin Kluivert is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for A.S. Roma and the Dutch national team, he primarily features as a left winger. He was born on 5 May 1999 in Amsterdam, Netherlands to Patrick Kluivert, a former Dutch footballer, coach and former director of football for Paris Saint-Germain in France and Angela van Hulten.

He came through the AFC Ajax youth program and had his first professional contract with Ajax. He made his Eerste Divisie debut with Jong Ajax on 16 September 2016 in a game against MVV, replacing Vince Gino Dekker in the 67th minute, in a 1–0 away loss. He made his first team debut in the Eredivisie on 15 January 2017 in a 1–3 away win against PEC Zwolle, when he replaced Amin Younes in the 39th minute. He scored his first Eredivisie goal on 19 March 2017 in an away match against SBV Excelsior, exactly 10 years and 1 day after his father’s last career goal. The match ended in a 1–1 draw.

On 26 November 2017, he opened his account for the season with a hat-trick in a 5–1 home win over Roda JC; his father never scored a hat-trick in the Dutch league. On 12 June 2018, he moved to Italian club A.S. Roma for €17.25 million, rising to €18.75 million.

Internationally, he played at the 2016 Under 17 Euros held in Azerbaijan, he earned his first full international call up in Ronald Koeman’s first Dutch national football team squad in March 2018.

‘I’ll never sell you to Barcelona’, Roma president warns Justin Kluivert

New Roma signing Justin Kluivert has been warned that the club will never sell him to Barcelona.

Kluivert, son of former Barca player Patrick, has previously said that following in his father’s footsteps and moving to the Nou Camp would be a dream.

However, relations between Roma and Barcelona have soured this summer over the transfer saga of Brazilian winger Malcom. The Serie A club had agreed a deal with Bordeaux, and Malcom had been booked a flight to Rome, only for Barcelona to step in at the eleventh hour and hijack the move.

Roma president James Pallotta thus told Kluivert: “I’ve also read that you dream of going to Barcelona. You know I’ll never sell you to them, right?” according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
