In 1999, Justin moved from Stockton, New South Wales, to attend the sports training institution called the ‘Australian Institute of Sport’ (AIS) in Canberra after he obtained a scholarship.
Justin was named to the Australian team set to compete at the ‘Pan Pacific Swimming Championships,’ a long-course (50 m) event, in 1999. The event was held from August 22 to 29 that year at the ‘Sydney International Aquatic Centre’ in Sydney, Australia.
The 2000 ‘Summer Olympic Games’ held in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, marked the first ‘Olympic’ event for the then-newcomer Justin. However, he could not put up a good start and finished sixth, with a time of 4:17.87, in the men’s 400–meter individual medley event held at the ‘Sydney International Aquatic Centre’ on September 17 that year.
