Kirsten Powers is an American author, political analyst, and columnist. She writes for USA Today, and is also an on-air political analyst at CNN, where she appears regularly on CNN Tonight with Don Lemon, Anderson Cooper 360°, and The Lead with Jake Tapper.
She previously served as a columnist for the New York Post, and later The Daily Beast, which she left to join USA Today. Her first column appeared at The American Prospect. She has written numerous articles which have appeared in USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Elle, Salon, and the New York Observer.

Kirsten began her career as a staff assistant with the Clinton-Gore presidential transition team in 1992, followed by an appointment as Deputy Assistant U.S. She later worked in various roles, including party consultant, press secretary, and communications consultant.

She then left to become the vice president for international communications at America Online. She also served briefly as press secretary for Donnie Fowler’s unsuccessful bid to be Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair.
