Miranda was born on August 1, 1974, in Oswego, New Jersey, in the United States of attended Williamsville North High School, in Buffalo, New York. After she graduated from high school, she then joined the State University of New York, College at Fredonia.

Kristen studied video production and graduated with honors with a minor in Spanish. While at the University Miranda worked for the TV news station on campus at the State University of New York.
