Laura Marie Holtzmann Mother
Laura is the eldest daughter of an appointed American Christian author, speaker, and president of her ministry, Joyce Meyer (mother) and Dave Meyer (father) in the outside suburbs of St.Louis, Missouri, in the United States.
Her mother is a graduate of O’Fallon Technical High School in St. Louis. She was first married to a part-time car salesman briefly after her senior year of high school. The marriage survived five years. She claims that her husband repeatedly philandered her and convinced her to steal payroll checks from her employer.
They used the money to go on a vacation to California. She says that she repaid the money years later. Meyer visited local bars prior to meeting Dave Meyer, an engineering draftsman. They were married on January 7, 1967.
Consequently, Laura’s siblings are grown and selected people with families and children. Her uncle is called David Hutchison. Joyce Meyer is the primary minister at her ministry with headquarters based in the St. Louis suburb of Fenton Missouri.
She started her gospel ministry back in 1976. Meyer had been a born-again Christian since she was nine. Thus, her happiness was carved deeper in comprehending the ministry of God through faith. Joyce was a short member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod prior to her forming her own ministry.
Meyer left as associate pastor and launched her own ministry, originally called “Life in the Word.” She started circulating her radio show on six other stations from Chicago to Kansas City.
In 1993, her husband, Dave, recommended starting a television ministry. Originally broadcasting on superstation WGN-TV in Chicago and Black Entertainment Television (BET), her program, now called Enjoying Everyday Life, is still on the air today.
In 2002, mainstream publisher Hachette Book Group disbursed Meyer over $10 million for the rights to her backlist catalog of unassisted released books. St. Louis Christian television station KNLC, conducted by the Rev. Larry Rice of New Life Evangelistic Center, dropped Meyer’s programming.
Based on Rice, a longstanding Meyer partner, Meyer’s “excessive lifestyle” and her teachings “often going beyond Scripture” were the impetus for canceling the program. In 2005, Time magazine’s “25 Most Influential Evangelicals in America” ranked Meyer as 17th.
