After having fairly a struggle with his life back in Mombasa as a nurse, Mike decided to come to the big city to try his luck along with other young guys. One day after his struggle and earning a thousand shilling from his work, he decided to spoil himself. Little did he know that he was to get a good deal during this spoiling.
He ordered a soda and as he drank up, he saw a line headed to a tent but he never showed concern about it. As he waited for his change, he decided to check it out and as it turned out, Hot 96 was doing an audition for the radio station. He went and did his short and was told that he would be contacted later.
A few weeks after, he was contacted by Mure David who was the head of the radio at the time. More saw raw talent and wanted to tap it and since then Mike Mondo has grown beyond his boundaries in the field of journalism. Mure also helped him acquire a place onset for the TV show called The Loop.
He was also hooked up with MC Gigs and Karaoke Gigs which helped him brand his name on air. He worked at Hot 96 for 3 years and left to join X FM where he met Jeff Mote who hooked him up with the auditions for Sports Central.
