Hall and her twin sister, Andrea Hall, were born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and grew up in Lake Worth, Florida. When she was 12 years old, she was elected Junior Orange Bowl Queen. Hall studied psychology before switching to acting.

In 1986, Hall became the first performer to star in daytime and primetime series when she was cast in NBC’s family drama, Our House as Jesse Witherspoon. She left Daytime in 1987 to focus on primetime shows and a growing career in television films. Hall and Drake Hogestyn play the recurring roles of Marlena Evans and John Black on September 26, 2011.
