Johns Hopkins found a dead student on their campus. Though the student was called Chung and was 19 years old, she is in no way related to Stella Chung Siaw Yih. Police arrived at the university around 8:20 p.m. Saturday to find medics treating 19-year-old Stella Chung inside her suite at the college.
She was pronounced dead at the scene by medics, and police did not find any signs of an attack or self-inflicted wound. The student’s family was notified and officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the student’s death pending the results of an autopsy. A cause of death had not been determined as of Thursday morning, police said. Hopkins officials said there was no community health or safety concerns related to the incident. Chung was a first-year student at the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences and “quickly became an actively engaged member” of the university community, said Vice Provost for Student Affairs Alanna Shanahan and Dean of Student Life Smita Ruzicka in an email to students Thursday.
