Matt Stone is an American actor, voice actor, animator, writer, producer, and composer who was born in Houston, Texas as Matthew Richard Stone. He is famous for co-creating South Park (1997–present) and co-developing The Book of Mormon in 2011 along with his creative partner Trey Parker.

Stone was interested in film and music as a child and in high school and joined the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he met Parker. The two collaborated on various short films, and starred in the feature-length musical Cannibal! The Musical in the year 1993.

Stone and Parker moved to Los Angeles and wrote their second film, Orgazmo in the year 1997. Prior to the premiere of the film, South Park premiered on Comedy Central in August 1997. The two possess full creative control of the show and have produced music as well as video games based on it.

A film based on the series, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut in the year 1999, received good reviews from both critics and fans. Stone went on to write, produce as well as star in the satirical action film Team America: World Police in 2004, and, after several years of development, The Book of Mormon premiered on Broadway to good reviews. In the year 2013, Stone and Parker established their own production studio, Important Studios.
