Strong appeared in two Prime Suspect serials for ITV as Inspector later Detective Chief Superintendent Larry Hall, in Prime Suspect three and Prime Suspect six. He had starring roles in two BBC Two drama serials, Our Friends in the North and The Long Firm. He played the villainous Colonel Brand in Sharpe’s Mission. Iain Glen Career

Iain started his acting career with the 1986 revival of Edward II, a Renaissance period play by Christopher Marlowe. He made his TV debut as Scott Adair in the detective series Taggart. He appeared in three episodes of the anthology Screen Two. He was seen essaying the lead role in the ITV drama The Fear in the year 1988. The series revolved around the character Carl Galton, a young criminal gang leader operating a protection racket in North London.

In the year 1990, he made his big screen debut with the Rankcolor theatrical movie Mountains of the Moon. The film was based on the journey of real-life explorers Richard Francis Burton and John Hanning Speke to CentralAfrica which eventually led to the discovery of the Nile’s source. He portrayed John Hanning Speke. He received the Evening Standard British Film Award for the best actor for his performance as Speke.

In the year 1990, he portrayed Larry Winters, a violent drug addict who was sentenced to life imprisonment for committing a murder biopic Silent Scream. The work earned him the Silver Bear for Best Actor at the 40th Berlin International Film Festival and the film was dubbed as one of Scotland’s best films by Time magazine.
