Bradshaw was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1948. During his early childhood, the family lived in Camanche, Iowa, where he set forth the goal to play proficient football. When he was a teenager, Bradshaw moved with his family to Shreveport, where he attended Woodlawn High School, played under assistant coach A. L. Williams, and guided the Knights to the AAA state championship game in 1965, but failed 12–9 to the Sulphur Golden Tornadoes.
While at Woodlawn, he established a national record for tossing the javelin at 245 feet (74.68 m); his exploits earned him a spot in the Sports Illustrated feature Faces in the Crowd.

On July 24, 1984, Bradshaw retired from football and quickly signed a TV contract with CBS to become an NFL game analyst in 1984, where he and play-by-play announcer Verne Lundquist had the top-rated programs. He served as a guest commentator for the NFC postseason broadcasts of CBS Sports from 1980–to 82 before his full-time work for them.

Kerr was born in Beirut, Lebanon, to his father, Malcolm H. Kerr, a Lebanese-born American academic, and his mother, Ann Kerr (née Zwicker), a California-born academic, both of whom specialized in the Middle East. He has three siblings. His grandfather, Stanley Kerr, volunteered with the Near East Relief after the Armenian genocide and rescued women and orphans in Aleppo and Marash before eventually settling in Beirut.
Kerr spent considerably of his childhood in Lebanon and other Middle Eastern countries. Steve was born to his father, Malcolm H. Kerr, and his mother, Ann Kerr in Beirut. His father Malcolm was a university professor specializing in the Middle East and the Arab world. Kerr’s father Malcolm was killed by the Shia Lebanese militia called Islamic Jihad on January 18, 1984 at the age of 52 while he was serving as president of the American University of Beirut.
Malcolm was shot twice in the back of his head by gunmen using suppressed handguns, in the hallway outside his office. Steve was 18 years by then and was a college freshman. Steve’s family sued the Iranian government under the Anti-terrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act of 1996.

Spurs
Steve was acquired by the San Antonio Spurs in a sign-and-trade deal with the Bulls in January 1999, whereby Chuck Person and a first-round pick in the 2000 NBA draft was sent to Chicago.
The Spurs reached 1999 NBA Finals and won their first NBA Championship with a 4–1 series victory over the New York Knicks and Steve became one of two players to win four straight NBA titles without being a part of the 1960s Boston Celtics dynasty—the other being Frank Saul; who won four straight with Rochester and Minneapolis from 1951–54. Steve and Saul are also the only two players in NBA history to have won two championships with two different teams in consecutive seasons.
Kerr was later traded to Portland Trail Blazers on July 24, 2001, alongside Derek Anderson in a deal that brought Steve Smith to the Spurs. Steve remained in Portland for the 2001–02 season, playing in 65 games.
Steve was later traded back to San Antonio on August 2, 2002. In nearly 75 games the following year, Steve supported the Spurs from the bench. In-Game 6 of the 2003 Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, Steve made four second-half three-pointers that helped eliminate Dallas. The San Antonio Spurs eventually won the NBA championship by beating the New Jersey Nets in the 2003 NBA Finals, 4–2. After the 2003 NBA Finals, Steve announced his retirement.
