Mia began her career as a writer and production assistant at KTRK-TV in 1998. Her duties there included writing the morning scripts for the newscast, researching videos, operating the teleprompter, and helping in the production of The Deborah Duncan Show. Since 1998, she worked at stations including KAVU-TV and KBMT 12-TV until 2000 as a producer, anchor, and reporter.

In 2010, Gradney secured a job at Health and Fitness Sports Magazine. She worked there for two years writing monthly feature articles that covered fashion and trends.
