Randall earned the rank of officer cadet and second lieutenant from the Missouri Military Academy. Following that, he graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree.
Soon after his uncredited debut in the 1969 film Midnight Cowboy, he served in the United States Army as a tank platoon leader and first lieutenant stationed at the Korean Demilitarized Zone for a year before receiving an honorable discharge. Television Career
Carver’s initial notable appearance onscreen occurred in the 1973 drama film “Time to Run,” where he played Jeff Cole, an environmentalist trying to disrupt his father’s nuclear power plant. In the 1977–78 TV series “Forever Fernwood,” he portrayed Jeffrey DeVito, the gangster husband of Cathy Shumway.
Throughout the 1970s, Carver made guest appearances on various television shows like “Emergency!,” “Room 222,” “The Six Million Dollar Man,” and “The Waltons.” He also took part in stage plays and made-for-television films during that period. Carver continued his career with appearances in films and TV series, including a guest role in a 1980 episode of “The Love Boat,” where he played the fiancé of Loni Anderson’s character.
He portrayed a killer in the 1980 TV film “Detour to Terror” and assumed the role of Lieutenant Vaughn Beuhler in the 1980 sitcom “The Six O’Clock Follies.” His later appearances include roles in “The Norm Show,” “Malcolm in the Middle,” and the 2007 film “There Will Be Blood,” where he portrayed Mr. Bankside.
