Ndamukong Career

Suh was widely recognized to be one of the best prospects available in the draft. ESPN.com’s draft analyst Mel Kiper, Jr., explains he is maybe the most dominating defensive tackle I’ve seen in 32 decades and projected him to go number one overall. He was seen as an ideal fit at either defensive tackle in a 4–3 defense or as a defensive end in a 3–4 defense.
For off-the-field marketing activities, he signed with The Agency Sports Management & Marketing where Russ Spielman served as lead agent. At the NFL Combine, he bench pressed 225 lbs thirty-two times and had a 35½ inch vertical leap, the highest for a defensive tackle since Al Lucas 36 in 2000.Before the NFL draft, he signed with Maximum Sports Management and agent Roosevelt Barnes. This caused moderate concern for many teams who were hoping to draft him, as this was the same agent who represented Michael Crabtree. Crabtree was the longest 2009 NFL Draft first-round contract holdout, waiting more than 6 weeks into the NFL season before signing with the San Francisco forty-nine ers. Crabtree had even threatened to re-enter the 2010 NFL Draft.
Apart from the concerns, he was selected second overall in the year 2010 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, becoming the first defensive lineman selected by the team since Luther Elliss in the year 1995. He was the highest-selected Cornhusker defender since Neil Smith in the year 1988.

Detroit Lions

On August 3, Suh agreed to 5 decades, $68 million contract with the Lions, such as $40 million guaranteed. He had his first sack against Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler on September 12. During a game against the St. Louis Rams, he recorded his first and only, as of 2021, career interception off Sam Bradford On 10 October. He scored the first touchdown of his NFL career against the Washington Redskins on 31, October 2010, on a recovery of a Rex Grossman fumble. After an injury to Lions kicker Jason Hanson, the Lions had his attempt at an extra point against the New York Jetson 7, November 2010. He missed the extra point when the ball hit the right upright.
For the 2010 season, he led the Lions, all rookies and all defensive tackles in sacks with 10. He was picked as a starter for the Pro Bowl, becoming the first Lions rookie since Barry Sanders to be picked as a Pro Bowl starter. He missed the game, due to shoulder surgery. He was named to the All-Pro Team on 25, January 2011. He was also named the Sporting News Rookie of the Year, the Pro Football Weekly and Pro Football Writers of America Rookie of the Year, the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year and the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year.
His rookie year saw the start of what would take him to a league-record amount of fines for the on-the-field character. He was fined $7,500 in a preseason game against the Cleveland Browns for a facemask of Jake Delhomme, fined $5,000 for using an opponent as leverage on a field goal in a week nine game against the Jets and fined $15,000 in a week thirteen game against the Bears for unnecessary roughness against quarterback Jay Cutler.

Los Angeles Rams

On 26, March 2018, Suh signed a one-year, $14 million contract with the Los Angeles Rams. He was fined $20,054 for a horse-collar tackle penalty while facing his former team, the Lions 2, in December. He completed the season with fifty-nine tackles and 4.5 sacks. The Rams completed the season with thirteen wins and received the second seed in the NFC. In the Divisional Round against the Dallas Cowboys, he recorded four tackles. In the NFC Championship Game against the New Orleans Saints, he had four tackles and 1.5 sacks as the Rams uploaded a 26–23 overtime victory and he reached the Super Bowl for the first time in his career. In the Super Bowl, he recorded two tackles in the Ram’s 13–3 loss to the New England Patriots. The Rams did not offer him a new contract and signaled early in the free agent period of the new NFL year that they had decided to move on from him.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

On 23, May 2019, Suh signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In Week four, during a 55–40 win over the Los Angeles Rams, he recovered a fumble caused by a strip sack by teammate Shaquil Barrett on Jared Goff and returned it thirty-seven yards for a touchdown, the second of his career. In Week twelve, during a 35–22 win over the Atlanta Falcons, he scored the third fumble return touchdown of his career off a strip sack caused by teammate Jason Pierre-Paul on Matt Ryan. In the process, he tied a Buccaneers franchise record for the most fumbles returned for touchdowns in a season held by Ronde Barber with his second. In Week thirteen, during a 28–11 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, he had two tackles and recovered a forced fumble by teammate Carl Nassib. Overall, he completed the 2019 season with forty-one tackles, 2.5 sacks, 4 passes defended, 4 fumble recoveries and 2 defensive touchdowns.
He re-signed with the Buccaneers on a one-year contract on 26, March 2020. In Week two against the Carolina Panthers, he recorded his first two sacks of the season on Teddy Bridgewater during the 31–17 win. Overall, he completed the 2020 season with forty-three tackles, 6 sacks, 2 passes defended and 1 forced fumble.
He won his first Super Bowl as Tampa Bay defeated the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 31–9 in Super Bowl LV in February 2021. During the game, he recorded 1.5 sacks on Patrick Mahomes. He re-signed to a one-year, $9 million contract with the Buccaneers after testing free agency on 5, April 2021. He appeared in all seventeen games for the Buccaneers and recorded twenty-seven tackles, eight tackles for losses and six sacks.

Donation and endowment

At the annual Husker Spring Game, Suh announced a $2.6 million donation to the University of Nebraska on 17, April 2010. 2 million dollars of his gift will go to Nebraska Athletics for its Strength and Conditioning Program and the remaining $600,000 will create an endowed scholarship for the UNL College of Engineering. His gift is the largest single charitable contribution by any former player and occurred before he was taken with the second overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft. He is a former Grant High School football star and donated $250,000 toward the effort to bring a turf field to Grant High School in the year 2013.
