Oscar Gutierrez Career

in the year 1989, Gutierrez made his debut in Mexico when he was 14 years. He wrestled with Asistencia Asesoría y Administración Assistance, Assessment and Administration, which was based in Mexico from 1992 to 1995. He signed with Extreme Championship Wrestling. He was signed by World Championship Wrestling. In his first match at the Great American Bash, he faced the Cruiserweight Champ Dean Malenko, in which Malenko emerged victorious.

He mostly fought with high flyers such as Ultimate Dragon, Juventud Guerrera, Billy Kidman and his longtime rival and Psicosis in Bash at the Beach. He fought Malenko, defeating him to win his first Cruiserweight Championship. He reigned as champion for three months. During this time, he had to defend his title from many, such as Ultimate Dragon, Super Caló and then Malenko himself.

He eventually lost the title after losing to Malenko at the Halloween Havoc. Later, he challenged Ultimate Dragon for the J-Crown Championship. However, he was unsuccessful.
He won the Cruiserweight Championship for a second time, after emerging victorious in a match against his opponent Guerrero. However, he was defeated by Guerrero and the latter reclaimed the title. He won his third Cruiserweight Championship after defeating Juventud in a match In the year 1998. He lost it after nine days to Chris Jericho.

He formed a tag team with Billy Kidman to fight at the Latino World Order. Later,he fought Kidman, for the Cruiserweight Championship, though he was unable to win it back.
He was forced to remove his mask after he and his tag partner Konnan were defeated in a Hair vs. Mask match which he fought against Kevin Nash and Scott Hall In 1999. He expressed strong disappointment over being unmasked and said that he only removed it because he had no other choice.

He made his debut with the WWE World Wrestling Entertainment. After facing various opponents such as Chavo Guerrero, Kurt Angle and Big Show, he later reformed his tag team with Billy Kidman. He teamed up with Eddie Guerrero and together won tag team titles. However, he was secretly jealous of Rey, as he had never been able to beat him. Therefore, during a match, he turned on him, and after abandoning him, he beat up Rey as well.

This jealousy and feuding at WrestleMania was part of a storyline to build up the audience’s interest. During this time due to his frustration, he also revealed a secret that they had shared regarding his son Dominick—this too was a part of a storyline. he was actually Dominick’s real father whom he had left with Mysterio when Dominick was a baby. They had a ladder match, for his custody, in which Rey turned out victorious. Later, Rey was defeated by Guerrero, after which their feud finally came to an end.

In 2006, after defeating Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio won the World Heavy Weight Champion. This was followed by a feud between Mysterio and John Bradshaw Layfield as the latter believed that it was he who deserved the World Heavyweight Title. This resulted in Rey having to face three opponents chosen by Bradshaw. He was defeated but later, in a direct match with Bradshaw, he retained his title.

He challenged Bradshaw for his Intercontinental Championship. He won the match in just twenty-one seconds, resulting in him being made the 21 Triple Crown Champion in World Wrestling Entertainment history. He took part in a tournament for the WWE Championship In the year 2011. He advanced to the finals, where he faced The Miz. He was victorious and won his first WWE Championship.

Teaming with Dominik Mysterio (2020–2022)

Gutierrez defeated Murphy to won for the Money in the Bank ladder match On the April 20 episode of Raw and he did not qualify for the match. He and Aleister Black fought Seth Rollins and Murphy to a disqualification when Rollins pulled him off of the ring apron and used the corner of the steel steps to pierce his eye, taking him out of action. This resulted in speculation that He would retire, following weeks of being mocked by Rollins.

However, Mysterio and Dominik later started targeting Rollins with Mysterio challenging Rollins to an Eye for an Eye match at The Horror Show at Extreme Rules; the match could be won by removing an opponent’s eyeball. At the event, he lost the match in a gruesome manner but doctors believed his eye was able to be saved. At Payback, he and his son Dominik Mysterio defeated Rollins and Murphy.

As part of the 2020 Draft, he was drafted to the SmackDown brand. Mysterio and Rollins faced each other in a No Hold Barred Final Chapter match on the 13 episodes of SmackDown, which he qualified after assistance from Murphy who turned on Rollins. At Survivor Series, Him and his son would both compete in a dual brand battle royal but both men were eliminated. At Superstar Spectacle, Mysterio, Ricochet, Dilsher Shanky and Giant Zanjeer defeated Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, King Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura.

At Royal Rumble, he entered at #26 but would be eliminated by Olmos. Soon after the Royal Rumble, he began teaming up with Dominik and on the WrestleMania edition of SmackDown and they faced The Street Profits. Otis, Chad Gable, the champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in a losing effort as the champions retained.At WrestleMania Backlash Mysterio and Dominik defeated Ziggler and Roode to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, becoming the first-ever father-son tag team champions in WWE history.

On the June 4 episode of SmackDown, he retained their name against The Usos, albeit with controversy as Jimmy’s shoulder was lifted although the referee wasn’t aware. After Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville were granted a rematch later that same night, the Mysterios again retained their titles after Roman Reigns interfered and attacked the Mysterios, causing a disqualification and both were assaulted by Reigns afterward.

He called out Reigns for attacking Dominik and challenged Reigns to a Hell in a Cell match at the namesake pay-per-view but before Reigns could answer, he attacked Reigns with a kendo stick, but was ultimately overpowered and while Dominik joined the brawl, Reigns power bombed Dominik over the top rope and out of the ring. The next day on Talking Smack, Paul Heyman, Reigns special council, formally accepted Rey’s challenge on Reigns’s behalf.

As part of the 2021 Draft, both Rey and Dominik were drafted to the Raw brand.[296] In October, Mysterio entered the King of the Ring tournament, where he lost to Sami Zayn in the first round.[297] On the October 25 episode of Raw, Mysterio competed in a fatal four-way ladder match to determine the #1 contender for the WWE Championship, which was won by Seth Rollins and featured Kevin Owens and Finn Bálor. At Royal Rumble, he entered at #23 but was eliminated by Otis.
