She founded the band Highway 101 in 1986 with Jack Daniels, Curtis Stone, and Scott “Cactus” Moser. The band released three albums under Warner Bros. Records. She left the band in 1991 and was replaced by Nikki Nelson as the lead vocalist.
Carlson now sings with the band Montana Rising and performs on tours. She is signed under Gerald Murray Music.
