He has appeared in more than 40 films, and from 1995 to 1999, he served two terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG). Masur is best known for playing Nick Lobo on Rhoda (1974–1977), Clark in The Thing (1982), David Kane on One Day at a Time (1975–1976), Edward L. L. Moore on Younger (2016–2018), and adult Stanley Uris in the miniseries It (1990).
He also emerged on an episode of All in the Family as well as in an episode of The Waltons in 1974, and had recurring roles in Rhoda from 1974 to 1977; One Day at a Time from 1975 to 1976; Hot l Baltimore in 1975; and the pilot to an NBC sitcom, Bumpers, in 1977.
