Ron Gant is an American television news anchor and former professional baseball outfielder, who was born and brought up in Victoria, Texas, United States of America. Currently, he works at WAGA-TV FOX 5 in Atlanta, Georgia, as a news anchor, co-hosting the morning show ‘Good Day Atlanta’. He worked for SportSouth as an analyst, during Braves games and on the MLB Network.

Gant’s baseball career was cut short by a dirt bike accident in 1993. He broke his right leg and missed the entire 1994 season. He returned in 1995 but was never the same player. He retired from baseball in 2003.

Ron Gant was born on March 2, 1965, in Victoria, Texas. He is the son of George Gant, a chemistry professor, and Alice Hardeman, a special education teacher. Gant attended Victoria High School, where he played football and baseball. He was a two-sport star in high school and was named the Texas High School Player of the Year in baseball in 1983.

Gant was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the fourth round of the 1983 MLB draft. In 1990 and 1991, he joined the 30–30 club (at least 30 stolen bases and 30 home runs in the same season). He was a two-time All-Star (1990, 1991) and won a Silver Slugger Award in 1991.
