Sho Madjozi Hairstyles
Growing up, my cousins and I always wore the same hairstyles. I think it was in order to prevent competition between us because we were all the same age. We always rocked braided bobs or shoulder-length ‘singles’. I think we got inspiration from Boom Shaka’s iconic braid styles and other black American ethnic hair beauty trends.
Sometimes we simply did styles that used wool. I have no idea where we got that, but as I grow older, I am starting to see similar styles in Central and West Africa, where women wrap and braid their hair with thread.
What inspires your unique hair creations?
I tend to get most of my inspiration from Fulani and Tuareg women. Then I’ll add to that whatever else I may have picked up along the way.
What is your current favorite braiding/plaiting style?
Currently, I’m really enjoying fiber in various bright colors. And I’m experimenting with different versions of the hairstyle that I have now become quite well-known for.
What hair products do you use to maintain your hair?
My hairstylist Princess Ndlovu prefers to use natural products, like shea butter and coconut oil.

John Cena Lyrics
Sho…
Madjozi!
Ulinifanya mfungwa wako labda mi ni Madiba
Sina plan, sina cash, hata pesa mi sina
Eeh ndo maana unanitreati kama nimekuibia
Lakini mimi nimekupenda though
I don’t know why you treat me like a criminal, eish
We were just together though
Some wanna get buff like John Cena
We used to be cool, when I used to come through
Now you wanna act tough like John Cena (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi
Chi! Chi! Chi!
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi
Chi! Chi! Chi
Some gonna want beef like Hyena
Some gonna get beat, I’m Serena
Some gonna get wild, gonna get loud
Gonna take shots like Tequila (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi! (Hayi!)
Chi! Chi! Chi (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi
Unanifundisha kutulia labda huna kelele
Utakaa right-ah na
Belinda hata mimi mwenyewe
Hungependa si tulia, wakati we unaenda mbele
Lakini mimi nimekupenda though
We were just together though
On the same line, why you pressin’ enter though?
Some wanna get buff like John Cena
We used to be cool, when I used to come through
Now you wanna act tough like John Cena
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi
Chi! Chi! Chi! (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi
Chi! Chi! Chi
Some gonna want beef like Hyena
Some gonna get beat, I’m Serena
Some gonna get wild, gonna get loud
Gonna take shots like Tequila (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi (Hayi!)
Chi! Chi! Chi
Okay
So this is where we do the pouncing cat now.
And then. Shi! Shi! Shi!
Shi! Shi! Shi!
Kwanza, cheza kama we hutaki
Pili, kata kama mshikaki
Tatu, ingia hapa katikati
Toka jasho unalowa kama ni samaki, yebo!
Kata kama mshikaki
Ingia hapa katikati
Toka jasho unalowa kama ni samaki
Hayi! It’s too much
Some wanna get buff like John Cena
We used to be cool, when I used to come through
Now you wanna act tough like John Cena
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi (Hayi!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi
Chi! Chi! Chi
Some gonna want beef like Hyena
Some gonna get beat, I’m Serena
Some gonna get wild, gonna get loud
Gonna take shots like Tequila (Hayi bo!)
Chi! Chi! Chi! Chi! (Hayi!)
