Sarah Herron Biography
Sarah Herron, a contestant on the hit television show The Bachelor, was born with only one arm. A condition known as amniotic band syndrome is to blame for the missing arm, but Sarah doesn’t consider her missing limb a setback at all.
The reality television star is known for her stint on ABC’s The Bachelor 17, starring Sean Lowe, and Bachelor In Paradise. She was notable for her bubbly personality and only having half of her left arm, or as Jimmy Kimmel put it, “one and a half arms.”
Sarah Herron Age
Sarah was born on December 5, 1986, Denver, Colorado, United States. She is 32 years old as of 2018.

The reality star wrote, “Happily not returning to Bachelor in Paradise this summer. #ParadiseFound #Sarahdise #adventurebuds …but I will miss Jorge.” And I’m sure that Jorge will miss you, too, Sarah… just like the rest of the viewers.
It’s great that Herron has a boyfriend now, but it just sucks that we can’t watch her relationship play out on reality television. Thankfully, we can learn a thing or two about her new man courtesy of social media.
Sarah Herron Design and Art
She is a designer and an art director at a brand advertising agency called 72andSunny. She had extreme social anxieties and was seeking to come out of her shell when she decided to audition for The Bachelor.
Sarah Herron Bachelor
She was eliminated in week six of her season on The Bachelor. She was on Bachelor in Paradise along with Lacy Faddoul and Michelle Money and she dated fellow contestant Robert Graham for a short while after the show.
Sean didn’t wait until the Rose Ceremony but pulled her aside to tell her beforehand. She said she loved him but looks at it with humor now and sees it as an opportunity to inspire young women everywhere.
Sarah Herron Arm
When Sarah Herron appeared in Season 17 of The Bachelor, she was upfront about the fact that she has one arm right away. She didn’t announce it in a huge way, but instead took bachelor Sean Lowe aside and told him that she wanted to bring it up before it was an awkward and avoided topic. And, of course, Lowe was totally unfazed by her admission. But, that might still lead viewers to wonder about what happened to Sarah Herron’s arm?
The fact is, Sarah was born with only the upper part of her arm because of a condition known as Amniotic Band Syndrome, which affects anywhere from 1 in 1,200 to 1 in 15,000 births and has varying degrees of characteristics. The condition can affect just one part of the body, like in Herron’s case, or can be attributed to similar changes in both arms or the legs even. Regardless, Herron has done nothing to let it stop her from being hardcore and awesome in pretty much everything she doe.
Sarah Herron Power
Sarah’s hope is that young girls and women are exposed to media that is representative of the way they see themselves, and not just industry standards. “I believe that the more women can be exposed to a diverse, real, inclusive representation of female bodies, the more we can reduce bad body image complexes and disordered eating trends,” she explained.
Sarah may have been born with Amniotic Band Syndrome, but her physical difference hasn’t stopped her from seeking adventures and appearing on television. With SheLift, she’s helping young girls with disabilities discover that they have capabilities far greater than they could have imagined. For the 2019 SheLift Sumit women, girls, and moms will participate in workshops and storytelling in the Mountains of Park City, Utah over Labor Day weekend. Activities include adaptive yoga, challenge rope courses, and nature hikes.
Sarah Herron Uniform for Adventure
When she signed up for The Bachelor, Sarah’s biggest fear was getting into a swimsuit on television. She shopped for more than 30 suits, struggling to find something that made her feel comfortable. Thanks to her Power Suit, she hopes other women won’t have to experience the same familiar frustrations. “I hope when women wear my Power Suit, they feel confident, athletic, feminine, and able to conquer anything that summer brings their way,” she told us.
The Power Suit collection was designed by five different inspiring women in order to change the conversation around swimwear. The suits encourage women to dive into new experiences. This is exactly what Sarah does with SheLift, and her Power Suit is another example of how she’s helping women feel empowered. Sarah’s suit is hardware-free and ready for adventure. It’s also super cute, with figuring flattering lines and a classic blue and white color scheme.
Sarah Herron has the power to make the media more inclusive. Growing up with one arm, she had the strong support of her family and inclusive community. But she still felt isolated. “I never saw strong, empowered women in the media that looked like me,” she told us. Today, she’s making sure that’s not the case for the next generation.
Sarah Herron and Robert Graham
Sarah Herron has made it clear she had regrets over “jumping to conclusions” with her Bachelor in Paradise beau, Robert Graham.
The Cali girl worried she’d overreacted to his lack of intimacy in the Fantasy Suite, which ultimately caused her to dump him in the finale. But now we’re finding out they later dated!
Sarah Herron Abilities
Sarah wanted to change the usual narrative around people with physical differences, so she competed on season 17 of The Bachelor. Following the overall positive response from viewers, Sarah started SheLift, an organization that empowers girls with physical differences by encouraging them to participate in outdoor adventures.
For her latest effort to share her point-of-view, Sarah teamed up Summersalt to create one of our 2019 Power Suits. Swimwear has long been the uniform for moments of childlike joy. Think: splashing in the ocean or running through a sprinkler. As part of the Power Suit capsule collection, Sarah’s swimsuit will help us reclaim that joy.
