Scott McNealy (Scott G. McNealy) is an American businessman who is known for being one of the co-founders of the Sun Microsystems technology company. He is also the founder of Curriki, a free, online, open education service that he started while still with Sun, in 2004. He also co-founded Wayin, a social intelligence and visualization company based in Denver, in 2011. He was the CEO of the company till 2016 when he stepped down.

Scott McNealy Career
McNealy began his professional life with a job at American Motors, his father’s company. He got a position at Onyx Systems where he became a manufacturing director. Onyx Systems, a vendor of microprocessor-based Unix systems was founded in 1979.
He studied at Harvard University for his Bachelor of Arts in economics and at Stanford University for his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. He was approached by his Stanford alumnus Vinod Khosla, in 1982. He wanted McNealy to help provide the necessary organizational and business leadership for Sun Microsystems. The name Sun was adopted from Andy Bechtolsheim‘s original SUN (Stanford University Network) computer project called the SUN workstation.
Khosla was the first CEO of Sun Microsystems and in 1984, McNealy became the CEO. Khosla eventually left in 1985. He served as the CEO for 22 years and on April 24, 2006, he stepped down. He handed over the job over to Jonathan Schwartz. The company was acquired by Oracle Corporation in 2010. McNealy received the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1987 in the Northern California Region.
In 2017, McNealy joined golf app 18Birdies as an advisor and equity partner while in early 2018, he joined the Redis Labs Advisory Board. He also makes regular appearances on the Fox Business Channel to discuss libertarian business issues.

In 2011, McNealy co-founded a company called Wayin, a social media intelligence company. Unfortunately, Wayin was not widely covered during its launch as it was the day the co-founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, died. In 2016, the company sought out and merged with EngageSciences to acquire senior staff, and diversify their market and McNealy stepped down from the CEO position. The company makes an application store for brands to self-publish interactive advertising campaigns using reusable digital assets, removing the bulk of cost involved in delivering multi-channel digital advertising.
