Early Life and Education
Kunis was born on August 14, 1983, in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. Her family transferred to the United States due to antisemitism in the former Soviet Union. Her parents, despite Soviet restrictions on religious practices, instilled in her as much of their Jewish heritage as possible. Once in Los Angeles, Kunis was enlisted at Rosewood Elementary School.
She attended Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School in Los Angeles and briefly joined the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES), but when that school confirmed to be insufficiently flexible about her acting commitments, she moved to Fairfax High School, graduating in 2001. She later attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

Kunis began acting when she was nine years old when her father heard about an acting class on the radio and chose to enlist Mila in it. There, she met her future agent. Her first gig was when she played a character named Melinda in Make a Wish, Molly (1995) and from there, her career skyrocketed into big-budget films.
