Katja Schuurman is a Dutch actress, singer and television personality.
She was born on 19 February 1975. She is 43 years old as 2018.
She is the eldest daughter of a Dutch father and a Surinamese mother of Dutch, Chinese, Amerindian and African descent, born in Curaçao, Sonja Bos and Wim Schuurman. She has a younger sister Birgit who is also a singer and actress.
She got married to actor Thijs Römer, who is the grandson of actor Piet Römer. The couple married on August 8, 2006 in Vallery, France, and divorced in February 2015.
She has a daughter Sammie Römer born on 22 April 2010.
Schuurman began her acting career on the television series Uit de school geklapt, in 1992 .Two years later she had a breakthrough when she resurfaced in the RTL soap Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden (GTST) as Jessica, the eldest niece of former angry neighbour Govert Harmsen.
She formed the spin-off girl group Linda, Roos & Jessica, with two other characters from GTST . The groups debut single “Ademnood” ,topped the Dutch charts in late 1995. The only disappointment in this successful year was the release of De Zeemeerman (The Merman); it failed to draw people to the cinemas and was voted the worst Dutch movie ever made.
Katja went on to release singles with both LR&J and on her own. She made hits with Maar nu heb ik er een, Wereldmeid, Totaal Verkocht and Lover or friend. Schuurman had left the GTST-cast by 1999 while LR&J disbanded after the aptly-titled farewell-single “1999 X”.
Schuurman played Frida in the Salou-based movie Costa! in 2000 and found herself reunited with Georgina Verbaan, who played the role of her sister Hedwig in Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden. Costa! premiered and was successful enough to be adapted into a television series, in 2001. She appeared in the first two seasons alongside Verbaan .
Schuurman hosted programs for BNN up to 2008 and NET5 from 2008 to 2014 and from 2014 onwards, she hosted for KRO-NCRV.It was announced in 2018 that Schuurman will return to RTL.

Katja Schuurman has written two reading books with a clear mission to teach the readers something.
Cow Dance and The Tractor Race are both stories about the children Daan and Charlie playing on the farm. Schuurman , who lives in a residential farm, wrote the booklets for FrieslandCampina, which launches a big campaign this autumn to teach children more about farm life in a playful way. “I think it’s important that children learn more from the outdoors and how it goes on a farm,” said the presenter.
The illustrations in the two children’s books were made by Harmen van Straaten , who previously collaborated with great writers such as Carry Slee, Jacques Vriens and Fred Diks . Katja’s reading books are given away at certain supermarkets for dairy products in the first two weeks of October.
