Thomason is widely known for his accurate weather forecasts at KUTV 2. He is usually seen during the morning hours from 4:30-9 a.m. and at noon on KUTV and KJZZ. Chase became part of the 2News Weather Team in June 2014 from Oklahoma City, where he was a meteorologist and storm chaser at KFOR-TV.

His love of weather began when he was young in his hometown Sandy, Utah. On his home, he was able to witness the wonders of the Mother Nature phenomenon particularly parts of the United States: lake-effect snow. This fueled his curiosity to known more about the weather.

This curiosity made him take the study of meteorology at the University of Oklahoma. In the heart of extreme weather country, he chased twisters, floated flash floods, and weathered record-breaking ice storms.

He eventually got his degree in meteorology and a double minor in mathematics and broadcast journalism from the University of Oklahoma. Promptly, he got a chance to begin his career at KJTV FOX 34 in Lubbock, TX, where he worked for more than two years.

He left FOX 34 to join KFOR in Oklahoma City, where he played a vital role in the National Emmy award-winning coverage of the Moore 2013 tornado.  Chase got public attention after chasing the May 19 and May 31 storms in 2013 — CNN, MSNBC, and The Weather Channel all featured his video.

When he is not chasing storms, he enjoys playing tennis or golfing. Moreover, he is also in snowboarding, he religiously flocks to Utah’s first snow of the season. Travelling is also one of Chase’s favorite things, he has visited countries and cities such as Seoul, South Korea, and the Great Barrier Reef.
