Slade started singing at the age of 8, he also began playing piano at the age of 11. He wrote his first song at the age of 16. Nonetheless, he joined Ember. Ember is a band that consists of Slade and his future band-mates Dave Welsh and Ben Wysocki. Unfortunately, the band dissolved in the spring of 1999.
