Ken Roczen Early Career Experiences

Roczen began competing in the World Championship MX2 class in 2010 at the age of 16. He won his first race in Italy that year, and by 2011, he had become the youngest rider to win the FIM MX2 World Championship. He then made the transition to racing in the United States, competing in the 250cc class of the AMA Motocross Championship.

Roczen has his racing career following the intense injury he suffered a couple of years ago. On January 21, 2017, at the Monster Energy Supercross Championship in Anaheim, California, when the now 25-year-old Roczen hit a bump and was tossed nearly 75 feet in the air. He landed, and his left arm took the brunt of it. It would later be diagnosed as a compound fracture.

Roczen rode for the Suzuki factory team early in his professional motocross and supercross career. In 2012, he signed with the RCH Suzuki team, which was a new team co-owned by motocross legend Ricky Carmichael and businessman Carey Hart. Roczen had a successful debut season with the RCH Suzuki team, winning the 250cc East Supercross Championship in his rookie year.

Roczen continued to ride for the team in 2013, winning several races and finishing second in the 250cc Motocross Championship. After two seasons with the RCH Suzuki team, Roczen moved on to ride for the KTM factory team in 2014.

At the start of 2002, Tom Boonen rode for U.S. Postal Service, finishing third in Paris–Roubaix after an early breakaway. Fellow Belgian Johan Museeuw had escaped to a solo victory. Team captain George Hincapie crashed in a slippery section of the course leaving Boonen to ride for himself. Boonen’s performance led Museeuw – his childhood hero – to declare Tom Boonen his successor.

At the start of 2003 he joined Quick-Step-Davitamon, he claimed that US Postal never gave him enough chances to ride for himself.
