Alexandra Cranford Meteorologist

Cranford is a well-skilled meteorologist with extensive experience in the journalism field. She began her career in her home state where she worked in numerous news stations in  Monroe and Shreveport. Also, she is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) awarded by the American Meteorological Society.

She has received a number of awards for her outstanding performance in weather coverages, which includes the Best Weathercast from the Press Club of New Orleans in 2016, Best Weathercast in Louisiana from the Associated Press of Louisiana in 2015.

Moreover, she has been honored with several awards from the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters and Women in Media. Since she joined WWL-TV in September 2012, Alexandra has been an instrumental staffer to the WWL weather team. Besides, she has also worked as a NASA Science and Engineering Apprentice in the Naval Research Laboratory’s Office of Oceanography.

Her interest in English and reading books open her doors to attended mass communication courses and LSU’s campus broadcast news station. Cranford learned early that weather has a tremendous effect on people’s lives.

She was brought up in Slidell on the Northshore and traced almost every hurricane in her house with her family. She began tracking hurricanes and storms while in college.  When she is not on the field chasing storms, she likes spending her time reading science fiction books and classic novels. Not to mention, she is a big fan of horse riding.
