Leaving KPIX (CBS5)

Chief meteorologist Paul Deanno left the San Francisco TV station KPIX (CBS5)  for a similar position at Chicago’s NBC affiliate WMAQ. His last day at Channel 5 was October 4, 2019. As Chief Meteorologist for CBS 5 Eyewitness News, at 5, 6, 10 (on the CW 44/Cable 12) and 11 p.m. Deanno delivered weather forecasts. Deanno spent seven years as the chief meteorologist for KPIX, replacing Roberta Gonzales, a long-time Channel 5 fixture. He joined the station in August 2012 and left in October 2019.

Replacement

Deano’s role at KPIX as the Chief Meteorologist has been taken by Paul Heggen, Who served as a weekday morning weatherman for a CBS affiliate in Raleigh, N.C. KPIX’s chief meteorologist job opened in October 2019 when Paul Deanno left the San Francisco station for a similar position at NBC affiliate WMAQ in Chicago.

KPIX chose to give the job to Paul Heggen, in March 2020, as their new Chief Meteorologist. She is a huge supporter of the Arizona Cardinals and enjoys involving in outdoor sports such as basketball, fishing, and hiking.

A slip of the tongue is quite standard for live TV newscasters when it comes to occupational hazards. In a recent report on a game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Wildcats of the University of Arizona, Scott Pasmore from Good Morning Arizona was the epitome of that. At the match, Pasmore and co-anchor Olivia Fierro explained how Warnecke is a fan of both teams when Pasmore had a gaffe.

Clothes

In 2015, a dress used by almost all meteorologists became viral. She clarified that they (the meteorologists) had a Facebook group in which they shared what type of clothes to wear.

Foot Surgery

April had foot surgery 2 times back in February 2018. The second one was to replace a screw from the first surgery. She returned back to work on February 26, 2018.

Nephew Accident

In August 2016, April’s nephew Dylan was involved in a boating accident which unfortunately claimed a part of his arm and leg.
