Spann started working at WFLA in September 2007. You can start your day with her at 4:30 am on Monday-Friday. Leigh often co-hosts the second half of the show NewsChannel 8 Today on Great 38 WTTA with co-worker Gayle Guyardo.
This part of the show is titled Today Gr8 with Gayle and Leigh. Since so many people ask, here’s the answer. She wakes up at 1:30 am and goes to bed at 6:30 pm, so she is lucky that it’s always been easy for her to fall asleep.
During the summer, it’s still sunny at 7 pm, but as soon as she closes her eyes, she is asleep. Also, she only drinks one cup of coffee a day. As a runner, the weather entices her to get out and explore the neighborhoods around her house during her afternoon runs.
She has even run two marathons. Tampa’s Gasparilla Distance Classic is one of her favorite weekends of the year. Leigh is a huge college football fan! Sorry, Florida Gators… She is a Georgia Bulldog!
