Bebe Winans Biography
Bebe Winans is an American gospel and R&B singer. He is a member of the noted Winans family, most members of which are also gospel artists.
Jim Bakker’s television show The PTL Club took interest in BeBe and his sister CeCe as background vocalists for the show.
After going to audition they were accepted. BeBe and CeCe moved to the PTL campus in North Carolina, and were on the show for about five years.
During their time on PTL, they recorded “Lord Lift Us Up” Eventually the success warranted a full-length album.
BeBe and CeCe later left PTL to pursue their singing career and recorded five albums together including self-titled BeBe & CeCe Winans, Heaven, Different Lifestyles, First Christmas and Relationships.
In 1995, BeBe and CeCe split up to pursue solo careers. But in 2009 they did the album “Still” together. On it was the song “Close to You,” which won a Dove award in 2010 in the category of Urban Recorded Song.

In November 2007 he filed a suit in Circuit Court against his former business manager, Eric Peterson. His claims included breach of a managerial contract and of trustee duties, as well as fraud. Winans asserted that Peterson stole from him and took advantage of his trust.
Mr. Peterson used the power of attorney to execute a promissory note purporting to obligate Mr. Winans to pay Mr. Peterson himself the sum of $150,000.”
March 11, 2009 he was arrested on charges of domestic assault for allegedly pushing his ex-wife to the ground in front of their children during an argument.
On December 4, 2009, the domestic assault criminal charges against Bebe Winans were dismissed. Winans was orderd to attend domestic violence counseling in exchange for dismissal of the charges.

Delores and David Winans recorded together as “Mom and Pop Winans”. They received a Grammy nomination for their CD “Mom & Pop Winans” in 1989.Delores is currently signed to daughter CeCe’s label PureSprings Gospel.

Brothers Ronald, Marvin, Carvin, and Michael Winans (the second, third, fourth and fifth siblings) are known professionally as The Winans. Their first record, Introducing The Winans was produced in 1981. Their style was noted for its crossover efforts and received airplay on R&B radio.

David Winans II is an instrumentalist; first as bassist for “The Winanaires”, the earliest version of the Winans as a gospel quartet, before they became “The Testimonial Singers”. He was married to Deborah Ann Coduto Winans (she died due to illness in 2007) and has a daughter, Seven Simone.

Michael Winans has performed and released several recordings with wife Regina, including the independent album Be Yourself. The album featured background vocals provided by their children Mike (Michael Jr) and LaShay. Their third CD was released in January 2008.

He and sister CeCe launched their own singing careers as background vocalists on Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker’s television show Praise the Lord Club (PTL). The siblings’ following popularity glowed a very successful and award-winning post-PTL career. Appearing as the duo behind such contemporary gospel and R&B hits as “Lost Without You,” “Addictive Love,” “I’ll Take You There” and “Close to You.”
Both also enjoyed noteworthy solo careers, with BeBe in memorable performances on such songs as “Abundant Life,” “Meantime” and “Grace,” among other projects. The musical also features another important figure in his story: Whitney Houston, who sang backup on the first BeBe & CeCe record and tour.
