Dirch Passer Biography
Dirch Passer is a celebrated Danish actor born on 18 May 1926 in Østerbro, Denmark as Dirch Hartvig Passer. Dirch is one of Denmark’s most prolific actors. He was the son to Ragnhild Fich and Capt.
Dirch attended J. Lauritzen’s sea training school near Svendborg in 1944 but since he had persistent problems with seasickness, he later started at the drama school De frederiksbergske teatres Elevskole. After finishing school, Dirch wanted to become an actor, but his father insisted that he should become a seaman like himself. In 1944 he attended maritime school but life at sea, however, did not go well – he was seasick all the time.
In 1946, he made his stage debut with “Six Comrades [seks kammerater]” in “Riddersalen.” Dirch made his film debut in 1947 as an extra in the Danish movie Lucky Journey (1947) and teamed up with Ove Sprogøe in the 1950s in many films. He became famous with Ved Kongelunden… (1953), which let all of Denmark see his comedic genius.
Dirch PasserHe has also acted other Danish films, such as Baronessen fra benzintanken (1960), Mig og min lillebror (1967), Summer in Tyrol (1964), the Mafia-movies and Charles’ Aunt (1959). He also did an almost silent sketch in which he portrays a man’s vain attempt to stop smoking. It was told that he could speak any language, however he wouldn’t understand any of it, which was one of his good qualities. Today he is seen as a role model by many Danish actors.
