She began her career at MSNBC where she worked as a production assistant on what is now known as “MSNBC Investigates.”

Her interest in broadcasting began at a young age. “My father listened to a lot of talk radio when I was growing up.” “I’m not sure if that influenced my desire to be a reporter, but when I was about eight years old, I told my parents that’s what I wanted to do when I grew up,” she recalls.
“There’s a video somewhere of me producing my first ‘news report’ about a missing Easter egg in a family Easter Egg Hunt (I was 8 years old).” She accepted a job as a reporter at WENY-TV in upstate New York in 2001 after a year as a production assistant on “Special Edition” (now “MSNBC Investigates”).
She was anchoring a month later. In 2002, she led a team that produced, wrote, and edited a 90-minute, commercial-free special commemorating the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, which earned the station its first Associated Press award, the New York State Associated Press Award.
Emily has covered many memorable stories, but her personal favorite was flying with the United States Air Force Thunderbirds when the elite aerobatic unit performed for the first time at EAA AirVenture in the summer of 2014.
