Kipchumba Murkomen is a Kenyan lawyer, politician, and currently the Cabinet Secretary for Transport. He is serving as the cabinet minister for Roads, Transport, and Public works in Kenya. He became the senator of Elgeyo-Marakwet County for the first term after winning the elections in 2013 on a URP ticket against the late Nicholas Biwott among other veteran politicians.
He was effortlessly re-elected in 2017 on a Jubilee ticket, beating former Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo. During the August 2020 election on a UDA ticket, he won against former Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos.

Murkomen was born in Elgeyo Marakwet county as the son of Johana Murkomen Kanda (father) and Mama Margaret (mother). His father was ordained as an African Inland Church (AIC) reverend in August 2019.

Murkomen was interested in politics at a young age since he was in high school. He was elected by the student body as the dining hall captain. He later joined the University of Nairobi, where he was the first second-year student to be elected chairman of the prestigious Kenya Law Society.
