Jill Szwed Biography

Jill Szwed is an American Meteorologist and weather anchor. Szwed currently forecasts Pittsburgh weather every weekend on Pittsburgh’s Action News 4. She joined NEWS 10 ABC in June 2020 as the morning meteorologist.

Jill previously worked as a Meteorologist for LEX 18 since May 2016. Szwed began her broadcasting career as the morning and noon meteorologist at WDTV in Clarksburg, WV. She and the WDTV 5 News Daybreak team were honored to be named the “Best AM Newscast” by the West Virginia Broadcasters Association.

Ballet

Szwed takes ballet classes for adults at the Lexington Ballet.  “It’s been great to get back to what I did growing up and really fall back in love with ballet,” she said. She grew up dancing taking tap, jazz, and ballet. She also competed.  “My performances as a child benefit today’s career. I treat my forecast as a choreographed number. Even though I am delivering a scientific message, it is still a little bit of performance each night,” Szwed said.

Leaving WLEX

Szwed joined the WTEN morning team filling the role left vacant by Jess Briganti back in March 2020. She is a native of Pittsburgh and comes to Albany from Lexington, Ky., where she spent four years as a meteorologist at LEX 18, an NBC affiliate.
