Evans was born on 16 July 1960, in Meridian, Mississippi, and attended Mississippi State University, where he studied business administration.

He also attended Jackson State University in 1981 and graduated in 1982, where he studied meteorology.

Evans’s broadcasting career started at the age of 13 years in his hometown of Meridian, Mississippi on WDAL Radio and WTOK-TV.

According to an affidavit by the responding police officer, Evans’ wife grabbed the waistband of his underwear and reached for his scrotum with her free hand, subsequently scratching it (his scrotum), which resulted in bleeding.’
