Subsequent to graduating in 1979, she started working in eateries in Boston, Massachusetts, and New York City. While still working in eateries, Sara served as a stagiare for chef Maurice Cazalis Master of the Henri IV Restaurant in Chartres, France. She filled in as the culinary specialist tournament at La Tulipe, between 1981 and 1983. This was the moment her chef skills really pinnacled.

Additionally, she helped to establish the New York Women’s Culinary Alliance association in 1982 which intended to help ladies working in the culinary field.
