He was brought up in a working-class family and started playing football at a young age. He joined the youth team at local club Jedinstvo Užice when he was six years old, and quickly rose through the ranks. At the age of 12, he moved to Sloboda Užice, where he continued to develop his skills.

In 1999, Vidic was signed by Red Star Belgrade, one of the biggest clubs in Serbia. He made his senior debut for the club in 2000 and quickly established himself as a regular in the first team. In 2004, he was named the Serbian Footballer of the Year. In 2006, Vidic moved to Manchester United for a fee of £7 million.

He quickly became a key member of the United team, forming a formidable partnership with Rio Ferdinand at the heart of the defense. Vidic won five Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League title, and one FIFA Club World Cup during his time at United. Vidic withdrew from professional football in 2016.
