Wotan Wilke Möhring is a German actor born on 23rd May, 1967 in Detmold, Germany. He is a trained electrician and worked as a club owner, bouncer and model before joining acting . He attended Hibernia School , a Waldorf School in Herne and later joined College of Arts in Berlin where he studied visual communication. He also attended drama workshops in Cologne and Los Angeles.
His father, Heiko Möhring, was an officer in the Bundeswehr but he passed on in 2004. During an interview with ‘Stern’ magazine talking about the difficult time after the death of his father.
“We were very similar in energy, so I loved him a lot, it was a big loss when he crashed. He really missed me – I still miss him. I collapsed at my father’s grave. Suddenly it was gone, right in the urn, and I thought: That can not be.”
However, the political views of son and father were very different. Möhring’s father had connections in the right-wing extremist scene. When he died, the “Heimattreue Deutsche Jugend” (HDJ), banned by the Ministry of the Interior, dedicated an obituary. It says that Heiko Möhring was an “upright fighter for our enslaved people”.
He knew that the father was very busy with the time of the “Third Reich,” said Wotan Wilke Möhring. “What was his motive? It always felt to me that he could not ask his own father because he was shot dead on the Eastern Front when he was a little boy himself, “the actor explained. “I think he glorified a generation of fathers there. Since 2013 Möhring has played a federal police officer named Thorsten Falke in eleven episodes of the long-running weekly crime-story series called Tatort, after previously playing guest roles four times in the series.In 2016 he played the part of Old Shatterhand, the blood brother of Winnetou, in the German film production Winnetou — der Mythos lebt based on three novels by Karl May.Möhring plays the main character, Ludvig Licht, in the 2018 Swedish television thriller series West of Liberty based on the novel by Thomas Engstrom.

Interviewer: You turned 50 in May. Has anything changed?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: I woke up as the same and fell asleep again (laughs). The only thing that has changed is that now everyone knows how old I am. This has not interested a pig before.
Interviewer: Are you interested in this round number yourself?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: You know that you have half of your life for sure. Not more. Age is like time for me: two minutes, if you wait for the bus, do not want to pass, and sometimes pass two beautiful hours in flight.
Interviewer: The children have priority Do you handle your time more carefully today?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: I know my priorities. What keeps me here most is to accompany my children, to get everything in their lives for as long as possible. I enjoy the now with my three young children. And who knows, maybe that will even rejuvenate me.
Interviewer: You were a punk, lived on the street, celebrated a lot – are you still so wild today?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: No, of course I am more mature in my mind and know more exactly what I want and who I am. But: If I want, I can still be really wild, I just do not mind anymore.
Interviewer: Because you have more responsibility now?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: The children do not stop me from living my life. Honestly: As for wildness and chaos, that has tripled for me through the children. If you have sensible children who turn everything upside down and question everything: That keeps you alive and young!
Interviewer: Would you like more offspring with your girlfriend Cosima?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: (Grins.) A kid can still come, that’s clear.
Interviewer: Interesting! What else is there in plans?
Wotan Wilke Möhring: I started surfing now, and I’m learning Spanish. These are things that I do only for myself.
