Eric began his weather occupation at another Orlando TV station while still attending Lake Howell High School. His desire for meteorology led to Seminole County Public Schools starting an internship program that would let him get credit. After Eric graduated high school, he assisted in covering hurricanes Charley, Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma. This armed him with second-to-none experience and prepared him for the transition from behind-the-camera to on-screen work.

In 2006, Eric was employed at WESH 2’s sister station, WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, though he didn’t stay gone for long. In 2007, Eric enabled WESH to cover the terrible Groundhog Day tornadoes, and he started filling in on weekends at WESH, finally joining the WESH weather team full-time. Weather is the foremost thing he’s ever wanted to do, and he’s affectionately referred to the newsroom as a “weather dork.”

Eric is working behind the scenes helping Hearst Television’s 26 other weather departments, helping create the best-looking, clearest, and easy-to-understand graphics in the country. Eric attended Seminole State University and graduated from Mississippi State University, but his fondest memories take him back to his time at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where he played the baritone for the UCF Marching Knights.

Weinberg serves with WDRB News where he serves the station as a Chief Meteorologist. The Connecticut resident lived there for approximately ten years prior to moving to Massachusetts. He was awarded an American Meteorological Society undergraduate scholarship and graduate fellowship for academic excellence.

After his undergraduate work, he continued to graduate school at OU for about one year before starting his profession in television in 1999. During his time working at OU, he was also able to get affected in multiple research projects with the “Doppler on Wheels” team. This project also includes a lot of tornado chasing and hurricane hunting all over the country.

He remarks that since severe weather has always been a huge passion in his life, storm chasing became a part of his life. Since Marc began tracking all types of weather in the year 1996, he has correspondingly witnessed 54 tornadoes and three major hurricanes, which include two F-5 and three F-4 tornadoes.

Frankie Katafias Idaho News 6

Katafias joined Idaho News 6 in July 2018 from Orange County, California. Beginning as the station’s morning traffic anchor and reporter, she quickly became the immediate fill-in for the station’s meteorologists and news anchors. During that time, she discovered her love for forecasting and chose to head back to school to become a meteorologist.

After enlisting in her first semester in August 2020 through Mississippi State’s online meteorology program, Katafias became Idaho News 6’s weekend weather anchor and weekday multimedia journalist.
