At the beginning of her career, Elam worked as a copy editor for Dow Jones Newswires. At the time, she was based in New York. Stephanie left the editing department to join Bridge News which was an international news service. As soon as she joined the Bridge, Elam began her duties to broadcast news by covering corporate earnings for the Nightly Business Report commonly referred to as PBS’s business news program.
Stephanie was also a reporter for First Business, a nationally syndicated, weekday morning financial news program and Market on the Close. The Close was a live show on WebFN that focused on the stock market in the last hour of trading.
Elam also reported regularly on the new streaming financial news site, WebFN. Stephanie later became the site’s only full-time reporter in New York. Her career soon grew and Elam soon began broadcasting the American Morning show on business and financial news for CNN’s flagship morning show.
She also occasionally anchored the network’s weekly program, Your Bottom Line. Stephanie worked with CNN for 11 years, which is from 2003 through to 2011.
