Before joining WBZ-TV in 2000, Hughes worked as a reporter and weekend anchor at KIRO-TV in Seattle, Washington beginning in 1995. She was the main anchor and reporter for KBCI-TV (now KBOI-TV) in Boise, Idaho from 1992–1994, and was an anchor and reporter for KCBY-TV in Coos Bay, Oregon from 1991-1992. Not only does Lisa contribute to her job, but she also participates in several local charities and organisations. She’s on Big Sister Boston’s board of directors. Lisa also serves on the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital development board as well as volunteering her time with Project 351. She also serves at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dorchester’s Boys and Girls Clubs. Lisa Hutson is a news reporter/anchor at WHAS11 in Louisville, KY, specializing in general assignment reporting. She is excited to return to her Kentucky roots and call Louisville her new home. Lisa was born just a few hours south in Murray, Kentucky where her family still resides.

While she moved to Arkansas in her early years, she spent many summers coming back to her grandfather’s farm in a little community they like to call Hico, Kentucky. Lisa comes from a long line of hard-working Kentucky farmers and she is still a country girl at heart.

From the time Lisa was a teenager, she wanted to be a journalist. Lisa lead her high school journalism program while working part-time at the local radio/community television station doing everything from filming sporting events to taking out the trash and she loved it.

Lisa’s college years took her to Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas where she studied Marriage and Family Therapy. She returned to her passion for storytelling in 2010 at KTHV in Little Rock, Arkansas. For three years, Lisa covered wildfires, tornadoes, and the everyday struggles of everyday people. While in Little Rock, she shined a light on the issues local veterans face returning from multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan in her series “Life After War.”

Lisa’s reporting career took her to WXIX in Cincinnati in 2013. She is proud of a documentary series called “Finding Home” where she followed a local family’s journey out of homelessness which garnered thousands of dollars in donations to local homeless shelters.

For the last two years, she has been waking up early in Waco, Texas as a morning news anchor at KCEN telling stories through her series “Heart of Central Texas.”
